New Horizons, located in El Segundo, CA, was founded in 1987 by Howard R. Johnson (a US Navy Veteran) and his long time friend Larry McCubbins. After Larry's passing in 1989, Howard's wife, Nancy, joined the team as the General Manager which started the foundation as New Horizons becoming a family owned and operated business.
Howard's initial knowledge of aircraft ignition systems started with radial engines and was taught to him by his mother, Margarite Ridens aka Maggie. Upon completion of his training in the Navy, Howard moved in the jet industry working on more modern and high energy systems of today.

Christine began her aviation career in 2003 and in 2007, became a FAR Part 145 FAA license holder for limited accessory. In 2019, she became a FAA DER as well as becoming an AMT "NexGen 40 Under 40" recipient. Upon the sudden and expected passing of Nancy (her mother) in March of 2023, she stepped in as the current General Manager.
